Outfit suggestions for your maternity photo shoot.

July 5, 2022

Finding the ideal outfit for your maternity picture session could be challenging since, if you’re anything like me, you probably have trouble deciding what to wear on a regular day. I put together this checklist to assist you pick the ideal wardrobe because I want you to feel and look your best throughout your session.

Motherhood is a difficult and incredibly rewarding process that, in our opinion, deserves to be documented. Because of this, we provide maternity packages that are designed to document the spectacular experience of your pregnancy. A pregnancy photo session is the ideal gift for yourself or anybody special in your life who is expecting because it provides you with memories to cherish forever. We also recognize that preparing for a child comes with financial challenges, therefore we provide a gift card option to assist soon-to-be parents with the cost of their maternity session. It’s okay for friends and family to give you a session as a gift; this goes for the actual photoshoot as well as finished goods like prints and albums.

Bear in mind your physique.

Wearing something that will showcase your curves and flatter your physique is important because the photoshoot is all about you and your body. You can choose to wear body-hugging attire that accentuates your bump or more flowy attire, depending on your own style. You can even choose an outfit that showcases your shape while yet allowing for movement in the sleeves and skirt, giving you the best of all worlds. Always remember to dress in colors that complement your skin tone and blend in with your surroundings. I can assist you in choosing the ideal clothing if you’re having trouble because as a photographer, I have an eye for balancing the complementing and contrasting aspects.

Simple is best

The ideal keepsake is a maternity photo, which is also a wonderful opportunity to show your child later in life how it felt to be carried. I advise picking a more traditional clothing because of this. The everlasting nature of whites, neutrals, and soft, muted colors, as well as light floral designs, make them excellent selections. Their attire should match yours if your partner and other children will be present during the photo shoot. Choose your outfit first, then base your family’s color schemes and apparel choices off of it.

One thing I advise against is wearing “loud” apparel. Loud refers to extremely vivid colors, oversized brand logos on clothing, or eye-distracting patterns.

Search for texture.

Textures like knit, linen, and lace will always spruce up an otherwise plain dress or skirt. Textures look excellent in the final photographs since they provide character and contrast to your clothing. But keep in mind that we want to capture beautiful, timeless shots, so choose knit or lace designs that aren’t too garish to prevent seeming heavy in your images.

Prioritize your comfort.

Being in front of a camera can be an uncomfortable and awkward experience for most people (though we do our best to make you feel at ease and confident), so you should wear something that is as comfortable as possible! When you feel your best, you look your best. If you try on an outfit and don’t feel comfortable in it, it will be obvious in your images. Make sure you choose attire that make you feel wonderful, as this will show in your photos.
